Molecule 03 is made of vetiverylacetat, pure and unique. Vetiverylacetate could be described as a hybrid molecule, semi-natural, semi-synthetic. It is a part of the vetiver oil, distilled from the roots of an Indian grass, which is then "crossed" with acetic acid to remove the bitter and leathery aspects of the root. The result is an elegant and refined molecule with the woody, slightly grassy character of Vetiver, but much softer and softer. "Acetylation also reveals the grapefruit note in the vetiver," says Geza Schoen, "which results in a more pronounced bitter-fresh top note."
